Skype prepares its official application for the iPhone

The filtering of the promotional video you can see just above has made Skype executives confirm the obvious: an official application of the service will be launched soon for the iPhone . So far, Skype had only been on the iPhone, but apparently the company has spent months working with an application optimized for Apple tablet in the hope of having the same success they have had with the original version of IOS.

And it seems to have done a good job: the interface is not bad, it supports audio and video calls with IM, and adds the ability to share files between the contacts. Rick Osterloh, with whom I could talk in the last Mobile World Congress, said they decided to express the capabilities of the front chamber of the iPhone and thanks to the Apple support has not been a great challenge (even though Skype competes with its own Facetime video protocol ).

Skype for iPhone will also work on the original iPhone , though it has no video cameras can receive. There is no official release date, but from CNET has said it will be this coming Tuesday. Once in the air waiting for many end users with an iPhone, seeking since its launch Skype application optimized.

Will it affect the arrival of this service FaceTime ? And the next IMessage IOS 5? Most certainly. But worse would be if Apple would restrict the arrival of Skype on their devices, triggered protests by customers.
