Ubuntu Linux Project Sets Out Year Program

The Ubuntu Linux project has announced for April and October, new versions of the free operating system. Next month, the first version appears 11:04 called "Natty Narwhal" (Schicker narwhal).

In this issue of the current Gnome desktop with the Unity surface is replaced, which was developed especially for the needs of small netbook screens. Also replaces the software libre office package OpenOffice for word processing or spreadsheets.

Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth was now known the name of Ubuntu 11.10, which is expected in October: "Oneiric Ocelot" means something like "dreamy ocelot." The Ocelot is a cat in Central and South America. Shuttleworth said the name choice, innovations, each based on half daydreaming and discipline. In the version 11:10 is the Qt package to be integrated directly with its building blocks for graphical user interfaces.

In addition to services such as OpenSuse, Fedora (Red Hat) and Mandriva, Ubuntu has by all Linux distributions now the largest circulation. Ubuntu was started eight years ago with the aim of creating a simple operating system, as many people can use for free in the world. The name means in the Zulu language means "humanity".
