Android Navigation Bypasses Congestion

Google has a blog entry announcing that the navigation app for Android smartphones now current traffic information into account when planning the route. The anti-jam feature is available in large cities in the U.S., Canada, France, Britain and some other countries are available. German users will have to bide their time.

Google determines the flow of traffic from the position and speed of other users who are traveling the same route to and disclosure of their data have agreed to the anonymous. Earlier on the route calculation takes into account the traffic information collected as well. A Google product manager , according to Google in France also uses the data from an external provider. He hoped that Google "this year" find a solution for Germany, he continues to write.

So far, Google showed its traffic data only as a layer ("Layer") in Maps , and did not consider it when calculating the route. The navigation app - officially it's called "Google Maps Navigation (beta) - is installed on the current Android smartphones. ( CWO )
